Has everyone heard the sports updates during morning announcements? Occasionally, students are recognized on the morning announcements during sports updates. Being recognized is great but don’t you wish there was more? Typically, there are only two recognized during the sports updates, but many students work hard! They put effort into their classes and persevere. One of the students interviewed, Mylah Pippins from Lincoln Middle School, said, “Athletes are recognized through their games, but in general, students aren’t really recognized a lot.” Mylah also says that she likes our current way of recognizing students- giving them awards at lunch once or twice every month and recognizing students during the announcements- but she also thinks that there could be additional forms of recognition for Lincoln Middle School students. Some examples are Peer Shout-Out Sessions, (complementing your peers in a group), an Achievement Wall of Fame (a wall with photos or papers that show students’ achievements), or even Surprise Recognition Letters (letters sent to lockers that complement students’ actions or work that can be written by peers or teachers)! What would you like to see at Lincoln?
