The Lincoln girls’ volleyball team ended their season with a tough loss to the Liberty Panthers. Although it was disappointing, the players were proud of how well they worked together throughout the season.
We interviewed several 8th grade players to get their thoughts on the season. Most of the girls said they felt sad about the end of middle school volleyball but were happy with how they came together as a team. Laila Roundtree, the starting middle blocker, mentioned that Kayce Flannery was the most improved player this season. The team also had themed Saturday practices to make things more fun. Camilla Zurliene, a setter, said her favorite theme was the “American flag theme.”
Most of the girls have been playing volleyball throughout middle school. Morgan Whitehead, an outside hitter, said the Carlinville tournament was her favorite part of the season. When asked what they could have improved on in their game against Liberty, many girls mentioned their mental mindset as an area to work on.
This wraps up the 2024-2025 season for the 8th grade girls’ volleyball team. Despite the loss, the team is proud of their hard work and growth throughout the season.
