Sports are an amazing way to make friends and could lead to a successful career. School soccer can be fun. Sixth-graders Remy Strange, Blake Prange, and eighth-grader Ellie Detienne were asked various questions about their experience with the Lincoln Middle School soccer team.
We asked the group if they thought it was hard to make the team, and 8th grader Ellie said, “Yes, because there were a lot of people trying out to be on the team,” and sixth-grader Blake agreed. Remy thought it wasn’t hard at all to make the team.
The entire group thought that the hardest position was on the field. Ellie thought that the goalkeeper is the hardest position on the field “Because you have to save a lot of shots and you also can’t let anything in the net.” Blake felt the same, and she also thought center back is the hardest position. “I think goalkeeper since it is a whole different thing you learn from soccer. And center back since you are the one who must get back and be the strongest line of defense.” Remy thinks that center back and center attacking midfield are the hardest positions “Because in soccer center back has to be strong, and center attacking midfield has a lot of running and you attack and defend…”
The group had advice for people that want to start playing soccer or want to get better. Ellie said, “Go try out, have fun with it, but then you also need to be able to read the game and be able to take constructed criticism.” Blake said, “Always try hard and learn from people.” And finally, Remy said, “Try hard and do your best and have fun.”
This wraps up our Lincoln 2025 soccer season!
