Here at Lincoln Middle School, teachers play an important role in helping students learn, grow, and succeed. Every teacher has their own teaching style and personality that helps make our school unique. In this teacher spotlight for the 2025–2026 school year, we are taking a closer look at Mrs. Thompson to learn more about her experiences, interests, and what makes her such an important part of our school community.
Mrs. Thompson has been teaching at Lincoln Middle School for over 25 years and has enjoyed helping students learn throughout her career. As an 8th grader, some of her favorite subjects were Social Studies and math. She was inspired by her own 8th-grade ELA teacher, which later encouraged her to pursue teaching as a career. If teaching had not worked out, she also considered becoming a lawyer. Mrs. Thompson shared, “Over time, I learned that mistakes can always be corrected, and that expressing ideas and understanding the content is more important.”
Outside of school, Mrs. Thompson enjoys reading books by authors such as Lincoln Child, Douglas Preston, and Stephen King. Many of their books focus on mystery, thriller, and horror stories. While attending college to become a teacher, she learned the importance of viewing situations from different perspectives. Although teaching can sometimes be challenging, she still enjoys what she does. She explained, “Teaching is never boring because no two days are ever the same.”
Mrs. Thompson also said, “The teachers who came before me inspired me to foster collaboration and create an engaging classroom environment.” Although she may be retiring soon, students and staff will continue to remember her as a dedicated teacher who has made a lasting impact on the school community.
